Ole Miss is looking to dominate the SEC West this year after finishing one game short of Alabama. Coach Lane Kiffin was looking to add depth to his team and did just that when he picked up junior transfer running back Zach Evans from TCU.
Evans, a 5 star recruit out of highschool, wants to show the world what he can do in this new conference. In his final season with the Horned Frogs, Zach Evans led the team in rushing with 648 yards even though he only played 6 games.
On October 9th, 2021 the star running back injured his toe in a game against Texas Tech. Later the injury specified as “turf toe,” a sprain of the largest joint in the toe, took him out of the remaining 5 games of the season. When asked about his decision to enter the transfer portal he says, “I feel like I could’ve done a lot more and contributed a lot more to the team,” referring to his time with TCU.

Now recovered, Evans is aiming to be an asset to the Rebel offense stating, “I think Ole Miss led the SEC in rushing last year, right? I expect to do it again.” Ranked as college football’s No. 87 player in the nation, Ole Miss fans can expect great things from him as the team looks to replicate and one up their success from last season.
Zach Evans explained his excitement as his time in the spotlight approaches saying that, “ The SEC was where I wanted to go. I just want to show everyone what I can be.”
