The Saints quarterback room is dealing with another injury. Jameis Winston is still on the mend as he makes a comeback from a torn ACL, and now Taysom Hill is injured again. Hill was expected to make the transition to tight end, but he could still serve as an insurance policy should the Saints need help at QB.
Hill was hit in the ribs at practice Thursday and is now expected to miss some time. This doesn’t sound like it is going to be just a few days. An exact injury hasn’t been revealed, but this could be a rib fracture or damage to the rib cartilage. Both are very painful and take weeks to heal. If it’s just a bruise he should be back much sooner, but it can still be very painful at first.
Last season Hill suffered a season-ending foot injury. He ended up needing surgery due to a Lisfranc injury, which is the complex joint in the mid foot. Hill’s expected recovery time was 6-9 months, and he was cleared ahead of training camp. His Injury Risk entering camp was High due to the nature of a mid foot injury like this.
