Syracuse QB Garrett Shrader exits with apparent head injury

Syracuse QB Garrett Shrader will not return against Notre Dame due to an undisclosed injury, though based on video from the game it appears to be a head injury.

Shrader was leading the Orange towards midfield, down 14-7 with 3 minutes remaining in the first half, when he ran the ball and appeared to hit his head as he was tackled. He stumbled getting back up and left the game shortly after.

If it is a concussion, Shrader will have to pass protocol before next week’s matchup against Pittsburgh. It will also likely limit him considering he is adept at using his legs. In Syracuse’s last two games, Shrader picked up 71- and 81 yards on the ground.

In last week’s loss to #5 Clemson, Shrader went 18-for-26 for 167 yards and one touchdown. It was Syracuse’s only loss on the season thus far. Carlos Del Rio-Wilson is set to take over at quarterback for the Orange.
