Markelle Fultz’s entire NBA career has been marred by injuries and that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Fultz suffered a fracture in his big toe in late September, and while the number one overall pick didn’t need surgery, he’s been in a walking boot and there is currently no timetable for his return. Fultz is suspected to have suffered the injury in a preseason workout.
Since being drafted in 2017, Fultz has only been able to put up one relatively healthy season. He’s otherwise been out with shoulder injuries, ACL ruptures, and other lingering injuries. The Magic will surely keep a close eye on Fultz whenever he is healthy enough to return to the lineup given his history.
A fractured big toe comes with at least a 6 week recovery time, so Fultz still has a couple of weeks until he closes in on a possible return date. The big toe provides stability for activities like cutting and jumping, so any lingering discomfort would impact those basketball movements.
