Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar expected to return this weekend

The 31-year-old has returned to training after he suffered a head injury during the Carabao Cup final.

The Switzerland international suffered the head injury in the first half at Wembley. He managed to carry on in the game but it has since been stated that Schar suffered a concussion.

Concussion protocol states that a player cannot return until at least six full days after the incident.

Fabian Schar should be fit to return for Newcastle against Wolves

While Schar has been excellent this season, Lascelles took his place against Manchester City and played well against Erling Haaland. Eddie Howe will need to decide if Lascelles has done enough to keep his position in the side.

Inside Injuries don’t think Schar is fully fit after his concussion and have given him an overall Health of 7/10. There is an argument that he is fit to play but certainly isn’t at 100%. His HPF of 67.74% and IRC 43.10% would suggest this game maybe too soon to reintroduce him.
