Miami will likely have to finish out the game against Duke with their backup QB. Starter Tyler Van Dyke got hit with a backside blitz from two Duke defenders with about nine minutes left in the second quarter. His right shoulder got pummeled by the defenders and the QB was in obvious pain as the other players got up from the pile. Right now, the injury is just being referred to as an “upper body” injury, but based on where he took the hit and the area that seemed to be causing him pain, we are assuming a right shoulder injury.
Prior to the injury Van Dyke had completed 10 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Backup Jake Garcia has taken over under center.
