Liverpool Facing Six Weeks Without Thiago

A hamstring injury will sidelined Liverpool midfielder Thiago for around six weeks. He was injured during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Fulham. Thiago limped off of the field in the second half, and scans then confirmed the severity of his injury.

According to the Inside Injuries algorithm, this is a grade 2-3 strain, which is significant. Hamstring strains are tough injuries on soccer players as this is a muscle that is important for explosiveness.

Thiago has battled quite a few injuries since arriving at Anfield from Bayern Munich for £25 million two years ago. He played in just 24 matches in 2020-21 and only 25 out of 38 last season.

Liverpool are facing quite a few injury problems just a week into the season. Manager Jurgen Klopp said: “A transfer must make sense now and in the long-term. We have eight midfielders. We still have enough midfielders. It’s not that we lack midfielders, it’s just some of them are injured. This isn’t a good situation, I don’t like it at all. We have to see how we react on that, but for sure not panic.”
