Diogo Jota isn’t ready to return to the field, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp doesn’t know how much more time he might miss. Jota is battling a hamstring injury again. It’s been two weeks since Liverpool confirmed he had undergone scans after the reoccurrence of his hamstring problem, and there’s still no sign that is is close to a return. With only a week until the season kicks off, Liverpool are prepared to have him missing from their squad. Jota had only just been cleared to resume full training after being hurt in last month’s Nations League game against Switzerland. Now he could be facing a more serious hamstring strain.

Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 for a reported £41 million. The Portuguese international has 34 goal and 9 assists in 85 appearances. According to the Inside Injuries algorithm, he is two weeks away from his Optimal Recovery Time. He will remain a High Injury Risk for the foreseeable future as hamstring strains are highly recurrent. Liverpool need to be patient now so he can be healthy for the remainder of the season.
