A scary scene in Buffalo.
Dane Jackson was hit in the head by teammate Tremaine Edmunds as he tried to finish a tackle. Jackson was nearly on the ground when his head was hit from the front, forcing his neck backwards. It looked like a horribly violent (and unintentional) collision.
Jackson remained on the ground but was seen moving his legs and hitting his fist to the ground. Both positive signs when there’s concern for a spinal injury. The Bills medical staff rushed to his side and an ambulance was brought onto the field. Jackson had the mask of his helmet removed and he was immobilized and placed on a stretcher. He will head straight to the hospital. My hope is that this is all precautionary.
The entire Bills team gathered around him as he was loaded into the ambulance. It was a somber scene all around, but I’m hoping for good news. Jackson will undergo a variety of tests and scans that will look for any damage to the neck/back and determine if he has a concussion.
We will update as we learn more about his status.
Update (9:04 pm):
CB Dane Jackson has been taken to ECMC for evaluation of a neck injury. He will be getting a CT scan and an x-ray. Jackson has full movement in extremities.
